NYC man charged in stabbing murder year later

A Bronx man has been arrested for a nearly year-old slaying of a victim who was chased down and fatally stabbed in a driveway, police said Thursday.

Tavin Barrett, 29, was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon for the July 30, 2021, stabbing death of Jesse Jackson.

Jackson, 35, was killed on E. 227th St. near Barnes Ave. in Wakefield last summer after being chased by two men from the avenue to the driveway of the two-family home, sources said at the time.

Jackson, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., was stabbed multiple times in his neck and back. Medics rushed him to Montefiore Medical Center, but he could not be saved.

Barrett, who lives in the Eastchester section of the Bronx, was held without bail following an arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court.
